How to get there
By air: The nearest airport is Bergerac some 20 minutes away from which Ryanair and Flybe operate as well as internal French flights. Cars are available at the airport but early booking is recommended. Taxis are also at the airport. Bordeaux Airport is about an hour and a half by road.
By car: Calais takes about 8 hours and St Malo about 6 hours, both on good motorways.
By Train: The TGV train runs to Libourne from Paris and there is a good regular local train from Libourne to Gardonne, a small local village 5 minutes away.

Getting around
Outside of Saussignac (a short walk away) the best way to see the local area is either by car or bicycle. Both Bergerac and St Foy la Grande are a 15 min drive or you can take the local train to both from Gardonne which is 3kms from the house. Likewise Duras and Emyet are a 30 min drive.
