In the case of an island the only ways to get to San Miguel are the plane or boat. The International Airport of Ponta Delgada (João Paulo II) is served by several daily connections with the continental Portugal and offers regular flights with Boston and Toronto and the main European airports. Are still provided several links daily inter-island.

Regular connections by boat at the dock of cruises from sea ports are secured only from May to September with connection to other islands of the Azores several times a week.
