From J36 M6.Follow A590 signposted South Lakes, Kendal and Barrow for approx. 20 milesAt Greenodd roundabout, take 2nd exit towards Workington A5902, for approx. 2 miles.Take A5084, signposted Coniston, stay on for approx. 6 miles, pass the Land Rover garage.At the T-Junction (Wilson Arms opposite), take a left (A593 towards Broughton) and turn immediately right (as if going into Wilsons car park) and follow road round to the left.Ash Gill Cottage is on your left, immediately after Ash Gill Bungalow on the corner.

Getting around

The easiest and most convenient way to get around is by car, if you're not walking, are less mobile or venturing further afield. Local Taxis based in Coniston are rare but it can be possible if booked well in advance. Taxis will be available from the larger towns (Ulverston, Ambleside) and a premium will be charged for the distance callout. There are local bus stops within 150m, the x12 bus run approx every 1.5hrs during the day down to Coniston and over to Ulverston. Connections can be made from Coniston across to Ambleside and Lake Windermere and from Ulverston to Barrow-in-Furness.
