How to get there
Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport is 40 minutes from Casa do Cavalinho. Porto is 1 hour away - and you can go by train, parking your car at Guimarães train station. The Douro is only 2 hours away - a must visit if it is a unique visit to Portugal. The beach is close - 30 minutes away. There are several shoe and clothing stores nearby - Gabor, Fly London etc. The surrounding villages have a rustic market, one day a week, selling fruits and vegetables, pottery, cheese, hams and olives! Market day for Taipas is Monday, Braga is Tuesday, Barcelos is Thursday, Guimarães is Friday. 5 minutes from the house there are several restaurants, with excellent Portuguese cuisine and at reasonable prices. There is a selection of restaurants near the house, not to mention the cafes in the village of Prazins itself has a very good cafe with croissants and hot rolls all day.

Getting around
Also in this region you can also visit the village of Caldas das Taipas where the thermal facilities are located inside a park, next to the Ave River. They have modern hydrology equipment, an indoor thermal pool, maintenance gym, sauna and solarium and also a park where there are sports and leisure facilities: tennis courts, swimming pools, maintenance circuit.
