How to get there

From the M6:Leave the M6 motorway at junction 37 onto the A684, signposted to Sedbergh. At the end of the slip road turn right if you came from the south, or left if approaching from the north. Continue on the A684 for approximately 5 miles. Local bus services between Kendal and Sedbergh stop at the station. Taxis are generally available at the station, alternatively you can pre-book with one of the local taxi/private hire businesses.Trains on the scenic Leeds - Settle - Carlisle line stop at nearby Dent (9 miles), Garsdale (11 miles) and Kirkby Stephen (12 miles) stations. These stations are all un-manned and do not have taxis. Kirkby Stephen is the only station with a daily bus service through Sedbergh but this is not very frequent and you may need to book a taxi.Note that Dent station is about 4 miles away from the village of Dent.Having arrived in Sedbergh the cottage is directly opposite St Andrew's Church in Finkle Street, one of the three streets that form the town centre (the other two are Back Lane and Main Street).

Getting around

The cottage is ideally situated in the heart of Sedbergh, making many of the local pubs and shops accessible on foot. For book lovers, there are many bookshops less than 10 minutes from the cottage by foot, including the huge Westwood Books on Long Lane. It is also a great starting point for many walks around the local area including Winder, Cautley Spout and Akay Forest (via the Pepperpot). We do recommend visiting with a car as it allows a greater degree of flexibility when exploring around the Dales and the Lake District. There are buses and local taxi firms should you wish to visit other towns in the area such as Kirkby Stephen and Kendal. Information is available from the Visit Sedbergh website.
