How to get there

Approaching Ardgay from the East.........pass the railway station on your right, and just as the road sweeps to the right, take a left so that the Kyle of Sutherland Fisheries Trust office is on your right. (If you cross over the railway and find yourself heading towards Bonar Bridge, you have missed the turning.)

At the Kyle of Sutherland Fisheries Trust office, take a careful note of your mileage.

0.7 of a mile further on, after the primary school on your right, the road forks. The right fork is signposted to Culrain, Croick and Inveroykel, and there is a small post box on the corner. Take the left fork (which simply involves not turning to the right), so keeping yourself on the south side of the river.

Once again, take a careful note of your mileage – the Bard is 1.4 miles from the fork in the road. Pass Gledfield, which is recognisable by the high wall on the right hand side of the road.

The Bard is on the right, 200 yards after the second of two sharp right hand bends. (NB The first sharp right hand bend is “blinded” by the high Gledfield wall.)
