How to get there

Getting to Harris By Air

Both British Airways and Flybe operate regular flights to Stornoway (on adjoining Lewis) from several UK cities including Glasgow, Edinburgh Inverness London, Manchester Birmingham and Belfast.

You can also fly to Stornoway from key European cities including Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris and Stuttgart.

From Stornoway take the road to Tarbert, driving for about 40 minutes you will come to a road on the right taking you through the villages of Bunavoneader, Cliasamol, Amhuinnsuidhe and reaching Husinish. This is our road which although is only 13 miles long, it may take you about half an hour to reach your destination due to the tight corners, giving you more time to enjoy the spectacular views!

By Sea

Caledonian MacBrayne run car and passenger ferries all year round from Ullapool to Stornoway (Lewis), Uig (Skye) to Tarbert (Harris) and from Berneray (North Uist) to Leverburgh (Harris).

By Car

If you wish to bring you car to the island, it is advisable to book this in advance. It is worth noting however that it may be more economical to hire a car on Harris than to bring your own car across on the ferry. Simply leave your car at the ferry departure point and travel as a foot passenger.

By Bus

Scottish Citylink Coaches run a regular bus services to the ferry departure points.

By Train

You can get to Oban, Mallaig or Kyle by train. For train times and booking contact First Scotrail.
