In the heart of the Southern Uplands, Leadhills is a 15 minute drive from the M74, the main trunk route from England to Glasgow. Leave at Junction 14 (northbound) or Junction 13 (southbound). It is a one-hour drive from Glasgow and 75 minutes from Edinburgh.The nearest train station is in Sanquhar, 8 miles from the village. There is a regular bus service between Sanquhar and Wanlockhead (one mile from the house). There is also a bus service from Leadhills to Abington Abington has bus links to Glasgow and Carlisle.
