How to get there
We have travelled up from London to Gruinyards many different ways, driving up the west and east coasts, flying with Easyjet from Gatwick or Luton to Inverness airport and train to Inverness station. In addition we have also flown and trained to Glasgow and picked up a hire car there, driving along the A82 past Loch Lomond and through Glen Coe, which is a fantastic route and one of my favorite ways of getting there. However best of all is perhaps the sleeper train from St Pancras, either to Inverness, or even better, to Fort William. In all cases car hire can easily (and surprisingly cheaply) be organised for pick up at the airport or either station.

Getting around
There is a fairly regular bus service that runs to Inverness and Fort William but realistically a car is the most convenient way to get around and see the sights. However the Caledonian canal now has a largely level cycleway also linking Inverness and Fort William and cycling around the area is increasingly popular.
