Ambalama is located 7 km south west of historic Galle on the ocean road to Matara on the pristine Dahawella beach, home to the distinctive Sri Lankan phenomenon of stilt fishermen.

Colombo is 125 kms away . The journey from Colombo airport currently takes 2 to 3 hours on the Southern Expressway. With the opening of the Colombo - International Airport extension at the end of 2012, the journey is expected to be reduced by a further hour.
