How to get there

We are ideally located in the heart of the Peak District approximately 3 hours from central London.

From London and the South if you approach via the M1 take the exit at junction 24 (the A50) to Uttoxeter. Carry on this dual carriageway for some time over many roundabouts past turnings for Sudbury until you see an exit left for Ashbourne A515 just after a roundabout. Follow this road all the way into Ashbourne.

Follow the one-way system through Ashbourne continuing on the A515 towards Buxton. Continue on this road for several miles past a turning to Tissington on the right until you see a road on the left for Alstonefield by a HF Holidays property on the right. Take this road off left - it is quite a sharp turn. If you miss this turn for any reason don't worry, very close to the first turn is another road which joins the first - just take the next turn left. Follow this road steeply down the hill and into the lovely Dovedale valley. As the road comes down to the river you cross a small bridge. Turn immediately left just after the bridge and you will come into the small hamlet of Milldale. Continue on the same road through the village and continue along the valley. After a mile or so you come to a pub called the Watts Russell Arms on your right and a turning left to Wetton. Take this turn and continue up this road and into the village of Wetton where the pub will be on your left.

The house itself is in a very private location in the village and surrounded by trees so it is a little difficult to find and our access arrangements date back from the last century! When you arrive in the village all roads lead to the pub, The Royal Oak, which is in the middle of Wetton. If you pull through the left-hand side of the pub car park, set back behind the pub you will see a large oak gate ahead of you and a green sign. If you open the gate and drive all the way down the long gravelled driveway you will see the house. Please pull up to the main front door to unload, we can then show you where to park.

If you are coming south on the M1 we would recommend coming via Chesterfield, Bakewell and Monyash. From Monyash follow the road out onto the A515 and turn left towards Ashbourne. Carry on for 2-3 miles and then take a turn right to Hartington just after a pub on the right called the Jug and Glass. Carry right through Hartington village and on a mile or so until you come down a short hill to a pub called the Manifold Inn on the left. Turn left here and over the bridge and carry on 1-2 miles until you see a turning right to Wetton. Turn right here and follow this road into the village where you will come out facing the pub.

If you would like specific directions, please feel free to ask - we have given directions from most locations over the years, so will be able to help.
