How to get there

There are no direct flights to the island of Hydra. Upon arriving at Athens International Airport (El Venezelos), you would need to take a Taxi Cab, Bus or Metro to the port of Piraeus, where you would then purchase your ferry ticket(s) to Hydra, at the Hellenic Seaways Booth . The Hydrofoil Boats (Flying Dolphins), leave every 1/2 hour to an hr depending on the season. It is approx. 90 minutes from Piraeus to Hydra's main port. Tickets cost from approx. 28 Euros for economy class seats each way. Children under a certain age travel for free but still need to be ticketed. You can also book these tickets online before you arrive to save time & guarantee seat availability in peak season. Alternatively, you can hire a car & drive along the National Road towards Metoxi, which is the closest point between Hydra & the mainland. There you can park your car & take the ferry boat (for a small fee) or call for a Radio Taxi that will take you across to Hydra. (Radio Taxi's from Metoxi cost approx 45.00 Euro each way) This cost can be shared if you are in a group.
