How to get there

For the vast majority of people who drive from the east and north, the M5 at Exeter tends to be the gateway to the southwest and so directions start from here.

From the M5 as it runs out just past Exeter, veer left signposted Okehampton and Bodmin A30.

Keep following the A30 past Okehampton heading for Bodmin. At the Kennards House junction (about a mile past Launceston), turn off onto the A395, signposted Camelford, Wadebridge, North Cornwall. You start heading north and towards the coast. It is approx. 17 miles to Rocky Valley from here.

Follow the A395 for 8 miles until you get to the village of Hallworthy. Just after the hotel, turn right onto the B3762, signposted Bude.

Follow this road for approx. 2 miles until you meet the A39 (the Atlantic Highway).

Turn left, signposted Camelford and follow the road for approx. 1 mile (up a large hill and by a large telecoms mast).

Turn right, signposted Tintagel and Boscastle. The road is narrow at times so please be aware that you may need to use passing places for oncoming traffic.

Follow this road for approx 3 miles and go straight over the crossroads with the B3266. Follow signs to Tintagel and Bossiney.

Keep going and you will begin a fairly steep descent towards the coast that will give you a good view of the coastline, including Tintagel.

After a further 3 miles, you will reach the B3263 (the coast road that links Tintagel and Boscastle) at Bossiney. Turn right onto the B3263.

Follow this road out of Bossiney and down hill. After approx. 0.5 of a mile, the road will steepen and start sweeping right. You will sign a large slate sign for Willapark and Rocky Valley is the next left turn another 250 yards downhill.

There is a large gravel pull in with a cottage (Trout Leap) with a brown picket fence in front of you. Turn left down the drive and the cottages are 50 yards on the left. Carry on down through the gate for Trevillett Mill.

Please be aware that the drive is steep initially around the bend but quickly becomes more shallow. There is ample parking close to each building.

Note: Please be wary of Satnav information when you get really close as they have sent guests down a slightly more direct, but incredibly steep and narrow single lane road.

Getting around

There are many beautiful walks straight from the Mill and both Tintagel and Boscastle are walkable along the coast path. Otherwise, the easiest way to get around is by car, but please be aware that many of the local roads are narrow. There is a bus service that runs from Wadebridge to Bude via Tintagel and Boscastle. The bus will stop at the top of the driveway if going to Boscastle and in the layby opposite if going towards Tintagel. You need to put your hand out to get the bus (Western Greyhound) to stop. To get to Boscastle, the bus gets to Rocky Valley at 45 minutes past the hour and 5 minutes past the hour headed towards Tintagel (Mon to Sat). The Visitor Centre in Tintagel can provide up-to-date timetables.
