How to get there
You can come by car, exit 12 on the highway near Tarbes, Lourdes. From there it is about one hour to our house up in the mountains. We are located just before Barèges, a bit up the hill. We have a private parking for 3 cars.
In the winter the road is maintained regularly, but during snow fall you need chains or winter tires. The road clears quite quickly ones it stops snowing.
The last 150m to our house are not possible to drive up during snow fall. With winter tires, you can always descent, but the slope is just a bit too much. Park near by, and walk the last bit. Once the snow stops, the road will be clear within a day.
You can fly in to Tarbes or Pau. A high speed train runs through Lourdes. From Lourdes, a bus service can bring you to Barèges.

Getting around
The free ski navette runs from about 150 m from our house, and brings you to the largest French Ski station on the other end of the village. The village and shops are in walking distance, including a small supermarket. A larger supermarket is in Luz 'st Sauver at about 10 minutes drive. In the summer there are so many things to do, here are some of the most popular: 1) A visit by cable car to the Pic du Midi gives you a 360 view on the mountain tops 2) A walk to the Cirque the Gavernie shows you the wonders of an ancient gletcher wall with a water fall of more than 500m 3) A walk starting at the Pont d'Espagne brings you directly in to the wonderful nature.
