How to get there

Brixham is within easy reach of international links - 1 hr from either Exeter airport or Plymouth ferry to the continent. Trains from across the country generally require a change at Exeter or Newton Abbot to get to Paignton. The Dawlish route is spectacular though! There are also many bus/coach services (such as Stagecoach) across the country that come to/ via Brixham, and these are generally more frequently in the summer. By car from London can be via M4 then M5, but I prefer the M3 then A303 apart from peak holiday season as you have much better views, including Stonehenge. Changeover for most properties is generally a Sat between 10am and 3pm, so be aware that, especially in high season, traffic will be heavier at these times. If coming from north of Brixham, pass Exeter where the M5 becomes the A38. Leave the A38 at Splatford Split when you take the A380 up Telegraph Hill, signposted to Torbay and Newton Abbot. After Newton Abbot, continue on the A380 until it becomes the A3022 near Paignton Zoo. From here Brixham will be clearly signposted. Once in Brixham, follow the signs to Fishcombe and keep following the road. After many changes of direction it becomes North Furzeham Rd. Sunberry is number 31 on the seaward side, halfway along the terrace. Postcode is TQ5 8BB, and the padlocked car park is just past it, on the junction with Bella Vista Rd.

Getting around

Being so close to town, the easiest way to see the sights of Brixham from Sunberry Cottage is to walk. However, if you want to avoid the hill, the local bus (no 17) stops a few doors down the road taking you direct to Brixham town centre every hour, or via a slightly longer route from the other side of the green also every hour. It does a circular route so you can just sit on the bus and tour Brixham! Stagecoach do a variety of tickets eg dayrider which covers most of the local buses. In the Town Centre are buses which connect to most tourist attractions across the Bay, and further afield eg Plymouth, but most holiday makers will take the ferry to Paignton, Torquay or Dartmouth to give a different experience.
