Tomar is the heart of Portugal. It’s a small town, once ruled by the Templar Knights. Prince Henry, the Navigator, prepared Portuguese Discoveries there. Today, it’s a small central town 90 minutes from Lisbon ,60m from Coimbra, 15 minutes away from Ourém, 35 minutes from Fátima. The historical interest of the place is far beyond the Convento de Cristo and the castle, classified World Patrimony of the Humanity. It’s a real pleasure to walk along the narrow streets of the old quarter, to visit the ancient Jewish synagogue, the churches, the town Hall, the main place. Crossed by the romantic Nabão river, you can find several beautiful, fresh and quiet gardens. It’s a traditional town, where you can still find some old shops and objects.
