Driving directions to Buttermere - LA22 9EH

From the south. - leave the M6 at junction 36. Follow signs for Keswick through Ambleside town centre one way system. At a mini roundabout just past the Bridge House turn right to Kirkstone.

From the north Keswick

650 metres after entering Ambleside 30 mph speed limit, turn left towards

Kirkstone at the mini roundabout.

From both directions

The road rises steeply, after 100 metres follow the road round to the left, after another 150 metres the road levels off and Kirkstone Foot is on the right.

Turn into the Kirkstone Foot complex and Woodlands is the first building on the left.

A number of people who book with us are now using the train and bus rather than driving. The nearest train station is in Windermere. There is a local train from the Oxenholme, Kendal, main line station to Windermere. Once in Windermere you can catch a bus from directly outside the train station to the center of Ambleside from which it is 5-10 minute walk to the apartment. Some of the route is up hill.

It is possible to buy a 7 day ticket which covers all Stagecoach bus routes within Cumbria and the North of Lancashire, a 'North West Megarider Gold'. This ticket is available online and should also be available from the bus driver. See the stagecoach website for details of this, and other, tickets.
