One of the main tourist sites of the Azores Archipelago, Furnas, in São Miguel Island, stand out for its unique geological formation and the integration between man and indomitable nature. Its hot springs, geysers and its medicinal volcanic mud are just some of the many attractions of this nook. Situated in the municipality of Povoação, which has a fixed population of around 1500, Furnas is east of Ponta Delgada and southeast of Ribeira Grande. Rich in thermal pools and boilers, it also houses Poça da Dona Beija and Terra Nostra Park, a corner of the animal life and native species of the region. The Furnas Lake completes the stunning scenery, with an estimated altitude of 600 meters that attracts visitors.
