Driving from the airport in Pescara (Sambuceto) take either the SS263 or SS81 to Rapino, both will offer good signage and an interesting ride.

Other options would be arriving in Rome and taking the coach or train to Pescara or Chieti and arranging a rental car, if not take a lovely drive through the mountains from Rome to Rapino, about 2.5 hours depending on the weather and traffic. There are many places to stop en route and if you are in no rush call into Sulmona for a look round, a good break to the dive across from Rome.
