By car from the motorway A1 Firenze-Roma Turn off at the Val di Chiana - Bettolle exit , follow signs to Perugia- a four lane super strada (Raccordo Perugia/Siena).
It goes alongside the Trasimeno lake at one point and you take the next turn-off: Tuoro (12 km from Mercatale).
Follow signs to Umbertide, Ss 416. You go over the mountains and the other side follow the main road to the left(i.e. not Lisciano Niccone) which takes you into Mercatale.
