How to get there

There are direct flights from London (Gatwick) to Catania, British Airways and Easyjet. There are flights from Heathrow via Milan or Rome to Catania and Ryanair flys into Palermo. There are ferries from Genoa and Rome to Palermo and there is always the possibility of driving all the way through Italy and cross over the Messina straight near Taormina. The drive from Palermo takes you straight through the centre of Sicily through magnificent mountains passing Enna and eventually Mount Etna comes into view. The roads are good and it takes approximately 3 hours to drive from Palermo dependant upon traffic in the city centre. There is also Interbus from Palermo Centrale to Siracusa train station.

Getting around

As mentioned the easiest way is to walk around Ortigia. There are both Interbus and trains from Siracusa Train Station and the Interbus Station which is adjacent. From either you can travel to Catania, Taormina, Palermo and also some of the popular places i.e. the Outlet Factory Centre (designer clothes) or Piazza Armerina (a Roman Villa with amazing mosaics). Taxis are available by the Tempio di Apollo but we have a taxi contact for our guests. There are also local buses.
