How to get there

The village of Sainteny is situated approximately 45 minutes by car from the port of Cherbourg, one hour from the port of Caen, and approximately ten kms equi-distance between the towns of Carentan and Periers in the Manche region of Normandy. To reach Les Gites Champetres, as you pass through the village on the main road you will see the boucherie on one side of the road, and immediately opposite is a sign indicating D297 to Sainteny-bourg and Auxais. Take that turning, and after approximately 600 metres turn left at a sign indicating D543 to Ventigny. The driveway to Les Gites Champetres is the second entrance on your left, Oak Cottage is the first of the three cottages you come to.

Getting around

Away from Cherbourg Peninsular there are many other opportunities, Le Mont-Saint-Michel approximately two hours in the car, Paris by train from Carentan in under three hours, even Jersey or Guernsey in the Channel Islands is possible by ferry from Barneville-Cartaret or Granville Bayeux: famous for the Bayeux Tapestry, the story of Duke William’s invasion of England in 1066, Bayeux was one of the first towns to be liberated by the Allies in the D-Day landings. Not to be missed is the newly inaugurated British Normandy Memorial, inaugurated in 2021 and located less than half an hour from both Bayeux and Caen. Caen remains one of the traditional glories of France with its two magnificent abbeys built for William the Conqueror and his wife
