Getting around

There are some really nice walks and you can leave directly from the house. Either along the beach path by the railway station or into the village. Go down to the Firth of Clyde Cardross beach and mudflats. At low tide with boots or wellingtons you can walk a long way out. There is an abundance of birdlife and now the shipyards are long gone the sea water is clean. Take the train (every 30 mins) into Glasgow or Edinburgh. Its usually pretty quiet and a nice journey. Take the train to Helensburgh which is a very Scottish Victorian town and explore the many charity shops or walk along the promenade. Take the car to the Gareloch or Balloch, which is by Loch Lomond. Tale a walk around village. People will acknowledge you as you walk by.
