Buses from Colombo, Kandy, Sigiriya and other places arrive regularly at the Dambulla bus station located 1 km outside of the town on Kandy road.
The buses are running from main bus station in Fort Colombo to Dambulla(travel time 5hrs). If you like to take train the trains are running from Fort Colombo to Kurunegala or Kandy(travel time 4hrs) and a bus needed to be taken to Dambulla.

There are comfortable Air Conditioned buses running from Kandy(travel time 1hr).

There are various transport companies or rent a car with driver. If Airport pick up required please do let us know to make arrangements at additional cost. The drive time to Dambulla from airport is about four and half hours if the roads are less congested. The rush hour starts from 7AM to 9AM and from 4PMto 7PM.

- There are several buses to Colombo from the bus station, it would cost you about 140 LKR in non A/C buses.
- Buses to Kandy are approximately 190LKR (AirCon small bus) or 100LKR by regular bus.
- Dambulla cave temples would take you only an hour or two, so you should be visiting Sigiriya the same day. Bus to Sigiriya can be obtained from the Dambulla bus station.
- A tuk tuk to Sigirya will cost 700- 1000 LKR (May 2013). If they won't go down in price, tell them you are taking the bus.
