How to get there

OLD NENTHORN COTTAGE, KELSO TD5 7RY

DIRECTIONS AND ACCESS TO COTTAGE:

From the North:

From the A68 take the left turn to Kelso at Carfraemill. Follow signs to Kelso and you will travel through the village of Gordon.

About 3 miles south of Gordon you will go round a sharp turn and then down a dip and to the crest of a hill. On the crest there is a signpost saying Nenthorn.

Reduce your speed and you will meet a sharp left hand bend. Immediately after this there is a sharp turn right to Old Nenthorn. Take this turning and you will pass a few houses on your right with glorious views to the left. Take the first left turn at the fork, again signposted Old Nenthorn. After about 100 metres you will pass a white lodge house on the left. Stay left and travel slowly along road through trees on either side. Turn into the stone entrance way (cream stones) on the left in the gap in the trees.

Travel down newly laid driveway (slowly because of loose gravel) with paddocks on either side. Carry on along this driveway, past the large cream house at the bottom (the drive will take you in front of the house) and then park up by the cream cottage where the driveway ends.

From the South:

Take the Edinburgh road from Kelso, travelling along the long stone wall of Roxburgh Castle. This is the Edinburgh/Gordon road heading north.

After about 3 miles you’ll meet a dip and a narrow bridge after which the road then rises up and you’ll see a sign saying Nenthorn. The Nenthorn Equestrian Centre will be on the left. Travel along this road around a corner and up a hill. Before a sharp bend there is a sharp left turn signposted Old Nenthorn.

You can either park to the front of the cottage or at the driveway end.

The key is stored securely in a keybox on this end wall of the cottage. It is grey and unobtrusive – it is the wooden fence end of the cottage. The code is 1973.

Please return the key to this keybox at the end of your stay. Many thanks.
