Reached the village of Castiglione di Garfagnana continue along Strada Statale Passo delle Radici's for about 1 km. The town lies on the junction Pianacce.

If you are coming from the highway, the closest exit is Lucca. Follow the signs to the Garfagnana. Along the way you can stop in Borgo a Mozzano, to visit the famous ' devil's bridge '.

With a little detour you can reach the town of Barga and visit its Cathedral.

In Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, you can visit the city center, with its Rocca Ariostesca, named in honour of Ludovico Ariosto who stayed there as Governor, and the Monte Alfonso fortress overlooking the town.
