Directions to Pahau Downs
 
Take state Highway One North out of Christchurch. Having gone through Amberley, after 10km turn west onto State Highway Seven (marked Hanmer Springs, Lewis Pass).
The road continues over the Weka Pass, through the edge of Waikarii, past the Hurunii Hotel (an old stage coach stop), over the Hurunii bridge.
Route One
Continue straight to the village of Culverden, turn left along school road past the school to a T junction (1.1 km). Turn right, follow road till you see the sign for Pahau Downs Road, turn right(4.3 km). Un sealed, you reach the new Homestead on right after big dip in the road (6 km).
Route Two
Just after the Hurunii, bridge turn left through the Balmoral forest until you reach the Balmoral Homestead (which is on the left)(11.4 km). Sharp right bend, follow straight road for two miles, over small single lane bridge (Pahau River). Half a mile further turn left down Pahau Downs Road (19.1 km), which is un sealed, you reach the new Homestead on right after big dip in the road. (two and a half miles).
