How to get there

Driving directions to Brixham

Coming from the north (eg via Exeter, M5, A30) follow the signs from the A38 towards Torquay (the A380). You can also reach Brixham via Teignmouth and Torquay along the coast road, which, while scenic, is a normal, single carriageway road that winds round the towns and headlands of South Devon.

Coming from the South and West (eg from Plymouth) go via A385 and Totnes. Follow the signs to Brixham on the A3022.

Eventually, you’ll come over the hill at Churston on the A3022 (where the steam railway has one of its stops) and start the decent towards Brixham, about 2 miles further on.

As you get to the outskirts of Brixham take road at traffic lights to the right towards “The Breakwater”. After a quarter mile you come to a roundabout.

Take the first exit left again towards The Breakwater. At next traffic lights go straight across (a sort of left-right wiggle) and ascend Rea Barn Road, eventually becomes Higher Ranscombe Road. Continue down at Ranscombe Road. The entrance to Heath Road is on the right.

Parking

Parking can be a bit tight in Brixham. There is no parking at the Cottage. On-street parking is available all the time nearby. There is car parking at the Breakwater (24 hour).

Getting around

Brixham is easily explored on foot, being only a few minutes away, such that once your car is parked up you won't need it. There are boat trips from the main quay across the Bay to Torquay (about 20 minutes), or round Berry Head to Dartmouth (about 70 minutes). The No 12 bus from the town centre goes round the Bay via Churston, Goodrington and Paignton to Torquay and beyond to Newton Abbott, and runs every 15 minutes. The no 17 bus runs from just near the Cottage to the Town Centre and around Brixham if you need a lift when it is raining. And the No 18 will take you from the Town Centre to Kingswear from where you can take the foot ferry across the River Dart to Dartmouth. To get to Exeter there are half-hourly trains from Paignton.
