How to get there
WHEN ARRIVING BY PLANE
Dubrovnik Airport is 28 km from my house.
If you order a taxi, you should be in Zaton in 30-45 min. depending on traffic. Just ask the driver to take you to Zaton, near restaurant Gverovic.
If you ask me to arrange a taxi for you in advance, the driver I co-operate with will give you a 25% discount.
You can also take shuttle bus to Dubrovnik main station, and then hop on to one of 4 local bus lines to Zaton. This option should take about 2 hours because of bus transfers.
WHEN ARRIVING BY CAR From direction of Split
Drive on the A1 motorway, follow Dubrovnik road signs, to the very end, then take last exit on Ploče. Continue along D8. Get passed two border-crossings with Bosnia-Herzegovina and enter Dubrovnik exclave
Getting around
POSITION The best way to get around if you stay in Zaton is by car, because Zaton is a suburban area. Car is most definitely recommended unless you don't mind walking and using public transport. Also have in mind that Zaton is a bay, and from one side to the other there are about 4,5 km of paths to walk in one way (about 55 min of walking). Along this 4,5 km long coastline there are 2 large pebbly beaches, several small ones, many rocky beaches, 10 restaurants/pubs, 3 grocery stores, post office, catch machine, tourist office, news-stand, kayak camp, excursion boats etc. PUBLIC TRANSPORT There are 4 local bus lines available, and they drive on average every 60 minutes to/from Dubrovnik, it takes them about 35 min. to get to main bus statio
