Follow the A1(M) until you reach the turn off for Chester-le-Street. At the roundabout take the road sign-posted A693 for Stanley and Beamish Museum. Take this road, and head for Stanley. After crossing three roundabouts, take the right turning before reaching the top of the hill. Continue down this road until you get to the bottom of the bank with a garage on your left. Take the right turning and continue 0.6 mile where you will see a sign for the cottage on your right.
