A car is handy in the lakes to see all the interesting, and sometimes, less-known parts. But there is so much you can do without a car. You can do some amazing walks right from the door - including Catbells - no visit to the Lakes is complete without taking in the views from this lovely, little mountain. It only takes 15-20 minutes to walk in Keswick - for an array of places to eat, as well as to see the shops, market, theatre and museums. There are also buses to some of the central spots to visit - Keswick, Cockermouth, Buttermere, Honister and also the South Lakes.
