How to get there
Casa Esperanto is located 3 hours from Guayquil. The infrastructure is good, providing reliable roads from the city to the coast. You can get to Las Tunas via car, bus or private taxi.

Getting around
Three of us stayed five nights in Casa Esperanto in October. The charming house was perfect in every way. The sunny rooms opened on to a lower deck, and our favorite, the upstairs balcony. It overlooked the small village of Las Tunas and the sea. It provided a wonderful home base while we bird watched around Puerto Lopez, Las Tunas, Ayampe, and parts south. Not to be missed is the Ayampe Lagoon ( take a right through the village of Ayampe until you arrive at the beach.) Follow a dirt road across the street from the town entrance to Jocotoco Ayampe Reserve (Colibri Trail). Take the right hand road before arriving at the river crossing. The road may be impassable after heavy rain. Stock up with groceries at TIA supermarket in Puerto Lopez.
