How to get there
By Car: From Rome Fumicino Airport take the A1/E35 to the Orvieto exit. Drive up the hill following the signs for "Centro". Park for free in the lot behind the train station.
By Train: From Rome Fumicino Airport take the train to Termini Train Station change trains to Orvieto. Exit the Orvieto station and cross the street and take the funicular up to the town center.

Getting around
Orvieto is a very small town. You can walk end to end 15 minutes. Orvieto's history is extensive. Imagine wondering through Orvieto history where Julius Caesar conquered and annexed it for Rome in the third century BC. Due to its location, the city was virtually impregnable. Orvieto has also been the refuge of five popes during the 13th century. You can walk around the entire wall of the town or even walk down the VERY step hill to the valley floor a 1000 feet below.
