How to get there

From Lochgilphead, proceed along the main road (A83) and at the final roundabout, take the A816 to Oban. Continue along A816 for approximately 2 miles, until the road forks to the right and shows signs for Oban. Take the left hand turning into Cairnbaan.

From Oban, take the A816 south for Lochgilphead. Continue for approx 30 miles and pass through the village of Kilmartin. After about 5 miles the road forks to the left and shows signs for Lochgilphead, but there will be a sign for Cairnbaan to the right. Turn right into Cairnbaan, Crinan Canal Cottage is located on the banks of the Crinan Canal - which is a 9 mile waterway link through the Kintyre Peninsula.

The cottage is situated midway along the canal. Stay on the right side of the canal as you pass the Cairnbaan hotel - DO NOT CROSS THE BRIDGE. Continue for another half mile until the road forks. You can either go right (IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED THAT YOU TAKE THIS TRACK due to IT BEING UNEVEN WHEN FULLY LOADED)and follow the track between the cottages until you come to a greenhouse and the carpark for No8 which is after the second row of white cottages that you pass through, or recommended that you can stay on the road - with the canal on left hand side and turn first right after the second row of cottages in front of the green, passing the 10 mph sign and before the life buoy and double back in the first carpark and come down the lane to reach No8 where you can unload and carry on to No8's carpark.
