* The position on the Trip Adviser map is incorrect. We are 3 miles off the A40 to the East of Llandovery. The peace and quiet afforded to The Byre is due to it being tucked away in a valley well away from main roads, but this means that access from the A40 is along a two way, narrow lane with passing places, but several blind bends, so please do drive carefully!

From the A40 (Brecon to Llandovery road). Take the Babel/Pentre- ty- Gwyn turn off (Sat Navs may suggest other exits, but this is the recommended route). Once over the small bridge, follow the road around to the left (follow signs for Country House B&B). Continue on this lane without turning off, through the hamlet of Pentre-ty-Gwyn to Babel and turn off left at the Babel Community Hall (follow signs for Merlin Cottages). Continue on this lane past the Pen-y-Waun (Merlin Cottages) turn off, for another 1/3rd mile and then take a sharp right turn signposted Maes-y-Gwaelod down the lane and past the farmer’s barn. Parking is in front and behind the stone shed on the lane. You will see the gate to The Byre on your right hand side.
