How to get there
The best way to reach the mansion is by car. If you are driving to Volos on the Thessaloniki-Larisa-Athens highway, you have to turn to the Velestino sign direction and then left to Volos direction. Before entering the city, follow the sign to Portaria direction. This will lead you to Volos ring road. Go right and then turn left to the direction Portaria. You may drive straight to Portaria village and then to Makrinitsa, but is very much sorter to turn left to “koukourava” road and then left again up to Makrinitsa. Unfortunately, there is only a small sign and so the best to do is to ask. In case you drive via Portaria, go up the end of the road and you will be in Makrinitsa’s car parking.

Getting around
Of course walking is the best and oldest way to discover the gorgeous nature of Pelion, as well as mountain bike and horse and donkey riding for those, who can ride! There are many amazing paths inside and around village depending on your physical endurance. For longer explorations, although there is fair public transportation and taxis in service connecting the village with the city of Volos and other villages of Pelion, the best way to go around is by car. There are many car rentals in Volos.
