The Kolyvata are built at the foot of the mountain of Skaros which constitutes the physical protection of the village. The Skaros under great German archaeologist Dorpfeld (Dörpfeld) is homeric term "Niion". At the top of the mountain is the namesake forest with its unique species of oak (Roupaki), which naturally played hundreds of years and became early investigated foreign scientists as the German Sprenger, who has recorded from 1915 the rare flora of the forest.
