How to get there
Realistically, you will need a car (although the village is accessible by train and bus) as supermarkets are a 10 minute drive away. However, the village does have a shop, tabac, bar and boulangerie so you can survive just within Fons, whiling away the hours by the pool. There is a visiting pizza van some nights in the summer, but in St Mamert, the next village down the D1 road (about 3 kms), there is a wonderful pizzeria we highly recommend!

Getting around
A car is really quite necessary if you want to do anything outside the village. but if you do just want to relax and use the pool then you can get everything you need within walking distance. Otherwise supermarkets and the doctors/pharmacy are 5 minutes' drive away. Further afield are the Roman city of Nimes with its amazing amphitheatre, the incredible aqueduct of the Pont du Gard and the beautiful Mediterranean coast, best seen via the Camargue wetlands.
