Getting around

Using a car is the most convenient way to travel, but there several buses which go through Cockermouth and which stop on Main Street in the centre of the town, making it possible to travel around without a car, to certain places such as Keswick and then to Kendal. There are also buses to Carlisle, Whitehaven, Workington, Penrith etc. The 555 from Keswick to Kendal follows a scenic route, as does the bus from Cockermouth to Keswick. One of the buses from Cockermouth goes through Bassenthwaite village.
