Driving instructions: There are two ways to get from the airport to Trancoso which are both very picturesque. We recommend you to go from the airport directly to Porto Seguro ferry (Balsa). You need cash to pay the ferry (Balsa) (it is better to take money from the ATM in the airport, but there are also shopping malls and banks in Porto Seguro with ATMs ). Once on the other side of the ferry, follow the main paved road to Arraial D'Ajuda and then Trancoso (47 km, or 1h15 min). Do not enter the village Arraial d'Ajuda. In Arraial take a right turn at a junction where you see the sign Trancoso, Terravista.

Follow the main paved road until Trancoso (45 min).

Shortly before Trancoso, you will see a junction (Trevo) to the road which is a bit confusing. On this junction, continue on the paved road (do not go on the dirt road or you will end up in Caraíva). Once you enter Trancoso, you always stay on the main road, you are heading for the square, then Quadrado. If you get lost, just ask for directions to the Quadrado. In fact, you never leave the main road until reaching Onça1024, but in reality there are two deviations: one around the central square and the other near the Quadrado. Do not forget to always come back to the main road. Do not enter the Quadrado as it is a pedestrian zone. Near the Quadrado, ask for the road to Rio (river) Trancoso. You go down a small hill to the Trancoso River and cross a small wooden bridge. Onça1024 is located 30 meters after the river on the left (across the road from the Pousada Mata N'Ativa).

P.S: You can see on a map that it is actually closer to take the dirt road, the old coastal road, from Arraial D'Ajuda to Onça1024 (only 25min). I would recommend taking the dirt road another day to visit Arraial D'Ajuda when it is dry and has not rained much.

Drive carefully, as the road has many potholes!
