How to get there

Directions

From the M6

Turn off at junction 38 and take the second exit at the roundabout signposted for Kirkby Stephen / Brough A685.

Continue along for about 10 – 15 minutes, once you drive through Newbiggin on Lune get ready to spot the Ravenstonedale turn off on the right.

Take the turning and follow the road, passing The Kings head pub on the right and then take a right hand turn after the wood yard. Drive passed the school following the road as it turns left and then a sharp right around The Black Swan. Keep following the road out of the village where you will see a signpost for Artlegarth straight on as the road bends to the left.

Follow the signpost, cross the Irish ford bridge and turn left. Follow the road for just under one mile and the entrance to Artlegarth Lodges is clearly signposted on your left.

From the A66

Take the turning signposted for Kirkby Stephen A685. Follow the A685 through Kirkby Stephen until you reach a left hand turn signposted A683 Sedbergh & Fat Lamb. Take the turn and follow the road for approximately five minutes. Turn right just before the Fat Lamb pub and follow the road for approximately one mile. As the road bends sharply to the right you will see a sign post for Artlegarth to the left.

Follow the signpost, cross the Irish ford bridge and turn left. Follow the road for just under one mile and the entrance to Artlegarth Lodges is clearly signposted on your left.

Getting around

Walking is the best way to see the area, wildlife and birds, taxi's can be booked as can bike hire and horse trekking locally, if you want to sight see, then either the classic bus service, settle Carlisle railway line or car are all good ways to get around, assuming you can drag yourself away from the luxury of the cabin and hot tub that is.
