How to get there
The Historic Home is located just minutes from the center of town. You are close enough to town to walk to visit the many exceptional art galleries Homer has to offer, minutes away from a local bike/walking path, and only seven miles from the Homer Spit with unique shopping experiences, beautiful beaches, and several charter boat companies.
Charter boats will take you out for a day of fishing halibut or salmon on Kachemak Bay, water taxi services on the Spit will convey you across the bay to the Kachemak Bay State Park for hiking and camping, and ferries are available for sightseeing around the bay as well as transportation to and from Seldovia (a delightful side trip). The Alaska Islands and Oceans Visitor Center located on the Homer By-Pass offers visitors opportunities to learn and interact with "the largest seabird refuge in the world." Homer's Pratt Museum provides insight into the "Art, Science and Culture of Kachemak Bay." Everyone will enjoy the fish feeding that takes place at the Pratt on Tuesday and Friday from 4-5 P.M.!
Getting around
You will fly or drive to Homer, there are no other options! You can rent a car or a taxi at the airport. Homer is spread out, you will need a car or bicycle, and perhaps even a water taxi, ferry, or flight tour to see it all!
