How to get there

I'd like to give you some information about how to get to Capri. I hope they will be useful.

Once in Naples, consider that there are two boarding point to Capri, quite far one from the other (almost one km), and there are three ferry operators.

One terminal is "Molo Beverello"(Beverello quay), near Piazza Municipio (Town Hall square). High speed hydrofoils leave from there, they are operated by shipping companies: SNAV and NLG. The crossing from Naples to Capri takes 50 min. by hydrofoil. Departures are very frequent in the summer and stop at 20:00, that is the last one departure.

The easiest way to get to Molo Beverello from Central Rail Station is by taking Metro line 1 (Linea 1) and stop at "Municipio" or by taxi that you'll find just outside the station.

The taxi route to Molo Beverello has a pre-determined fixed rate (€ 13,00) you can choose instead of the taximeter fare. If you want to choose the pre-determined fare for your ride you MUST ask the driver before.

If you come in Naples by airplane you can get to Molo Beverello from airport by taking ALIBUS. It's a shuttle service that links the airport to Molo Beverello. The Alibus station is just outside the arrivals terminal. You'll find clear signals there. You can buy the ticket on board at € 4,00 each. The runs are very frequent, almost every 20 min. The bus will take you to Molo Beverello and there it ends its run.

You can also take a taxi. You can choose the pre-determined fixed rate (€ 21,00) by demanding it to the taxi driver before the run starts.

Once arrived at Molo Beverello, you'll find the ticket offices of all the operators just on the quay. If possible, always choose a seat in the back and at lower deck of the hydrofoil. Those seats are in general more comfortable.

The other terminal is "Calata Porta di Massa" (Porta di Massa quay). From there leave the slow ferry and a fast ferry, both operated by "Caremar" shipping company. The crossing by fast ferry takes 60 min., the one by slow ferry takes a bit longer, 80 min. The crossing by slow ferry is nice. Unlike hydrofoils and fast ferry, on slow ferry you can stay outside on the upper deck and enjoy a nice view of Naples and the gulf. Departures are less frequent then the ones from Molo Beverello. The last one departure in the summer is at 21:05, it's the fast ferry. From the Central Station you can get to Calata Porta di Massa by taxi. There are no pre-determined fixed fare for this route but it's better if you ask the driver before the run starts. You can also take the Metro Line 1 and stop at "Università". But you must walk a little thorough "Varco Immacolatella" (Immacolatella gate) and along the port.

If you'll come by plane the easiest way is taking a taxi, but there are no pre-determined fixed fare for this route. Better if you ask the driver anyway. By Alibus, once arrived at Molo Beverello you can take a shuttle from from there to Calata Porta di Massa.

You can get the list of all departures (time, boarding terminal, ship, and operator) by using the smartphone app "Capri Schedule". I found it useful.

Because during the seasons the number and the time of departures to Capri can change, I recommend to check them in advance
