CAR
The easiest and quickest route is via the M5; exit at Junction 27, then take the A361 link road to Barnstaple.
From there, follow the A39 to Bideford until you pick up the A386 for Appledore.
All the roads are well signposted and it’s approximately 45 miles from the motorway to Appledore.
PARKING
Due to the age of the cottages in Irsha Street, there is no on-site parking. However, it is customary for residents to load/unload shopping and passengers outside their cottage before parking up.
Free on-street parking can often be found on nearby Torridge Road, which is linked via a small public footpath adjacent to the cottage.
There are also two Pay & Display car parks 500 yards away. Both offer hourly, daily and weekly parking. A weekly ticket costs £16 or you can purchase a tourist permit online for £25. (This can be used in other Torridge district car parks).
The Quay offers parking free of charge 6pm-8am.
Blue Badge holder bays are available as well as charging facilities for electric vehicles.

Getting around
If you want to explore North Devon a car is a good idea but there is plenty of public transport available. There is a great local bus service that runs into Bideford, and from there to Barnstaple, Ilfracombe, and Exeter. Trains also run from Barnstaple & Exeter which extend onto the greater railway network. Some guests choose to park up in Appledore on arrival and don't get back into their car until they leave!
