How to get there
The Isle of Wight can be reached by car ferries from Southampton (to East Cowes), Portsmouth (to Fishbourne) or Lymington (to Yarmouth).
If coming by public transport, the train from Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour links with the Wightlink FastCat (to Ryde) where an overland train can be taken to Shanklin. Buses run from Shanklin Station to Ventnor or a taxi can be easily taken.
The Hovercraft also runs from Portsmouth Southsea to Ryde.

Getting around
There is an extensive bus network on the Isle of Wight, operated by Southern Vectis. Island Line Trains (part of South West Trains group) operate a train service between Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin. There is a significant network of cycle tracks, and miles of public bridleways for off road cycling. An abundance of footpaths provides great walking opportunities.
