How to get there
Plockton is possibly unique among villages in Scotland in having its own railway station, aerodrome and harbour as well as road connections. You can therefore choose to arrive by either train, aircraft, boat or car. Most visitors will choose to drive, since that provides greater opportunities for sightseeing in this beautiful part of the Highlands, the most common route being the scenic A82 and A87 taking you past Loch Lomond, Glencoe and Eilean Donan Castle. The Inverness to Kyle railway line is a pleasant alternative to driving and known for having some of the most spectacular scenery of any railway journey in the world.

While there are trains and taxis available from the village of Plockton in order to be able to appreciate the widespread natural beauty of Wester Ross, Lochalsh and the nearby Isle of Skye having use of a car would be the recommended method of getting around during your holiday. We have had guests, however, who have found sufficient local attractions nearby Plockton to have been able to walk or cycle to all of those without using their car at all.
