How to get there

Port d’Andratx (2.7km/1.7 miles away from the villa), with its beach and mountain setting, is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Mallorca and one of the loveliest harbour in the Mediterranean.

It is a stylish port, with a well-maintained and equipped yacht club offering more than 450 berths. Although it has many restaurants to suit the yachting set, Port d’Andratx is still a working fishing port where you can sit outside one of the many cafés and bars watching the bustle of daily maritime life.

The resort of Port Andratx was mostly built from the mid of the 20th century around the existing fishing port. Nowadays, it consists largely of an international mix of residents, holiday home owners and a few locals. There is a main strip of shopping along the beach front and a huddle of back-street shops in the steeply rising hills that surround the town.

Nestled in a natural bay, the port of Andratx offers amazing views on the surrounding hills and the crystal clear water of the sea. With its fantastic restaurants, glamorous bars and exclusive boutiques it is the perfect place for a drink at sunset, a delicious dinner on the port, a walk to see the many private yachts that berth here in the summer.

At the local marina it is possible to easily rent boats for the day, to explore the beautiful southern coast from the sea.

Antratx (1.2 miles from the villa) is an ancient Mallorcan town. With its old buildings and narrow streets, it is one of the most authentic places on the island, and home to a renowned modern art gallery. There is a great local market every Wednesday morning, where to find delicious fresh products cultivated in the surrounding countryside, such as almonds, oranges, olives, grapes etc.

Mallorca hosts a wide variety of courses for golf players. Just 2.8 miles in the direction of Palma, in the resort of Camp de Mar, a beautiful 18-hole course is considered one of Europe’s most challenging courses. Completing this amazing golf club is a high quality Italian restaurant.

Mallorca is great for sports. Nature lovers will find hiking paths in the countryside, and cycling routes of with all levels of difficulty (Olympic-level cyclists come to Mallorca to train). There are 2 mountain ranges, with summits over 1,000 metres and never-ending hiking trails, with lots of mountain guided tours available, especially on the imposing Serra de Tramuntana.

Palma (19 miles from the villa) is Mallorca’s capital, offering all kinds of places to visit, and things to so and see, art galleries, ancient monuments and castles, lively neighbourhoods and great restaurants. Definitely the most impressive building is its cathedral known as La Seu, a total must-see. This 14th century cathedral is one of the most impressive examples of Gothic architecture in Europe. Explore the narrow streets of the historic neighborhood of Casco Antiguo, and visit the Bishop’s garden and the Banys Arabs (ancient arab baths). In the heart of the town there are lots of great restaurants, bars with live music playing every night and some particular places, such as Abaco, a world-famous decadent bar. On Placa de Olivar a picturesque market offers all kinds of fresh products, and some eateries with delicious food to taste (also worth visiting is the Sineu market, every Wednesday morning). The royal fortress of Bellver is another striking place to visit, surrounded by pine woods and overlooking the city of Palma.

With over 250 beaches, Mallorca’s beautiful sea is ready to be explored, from sandy beaches with facilities to go to with family and children to secluded coves only reachable by boat and, like on all islands, depending on which direction the wind is blowing, there is always the perfect beach to go to. On this side of the island, just to name a few beaches that are definitely worth visiting, are Palma Nova, San Telmo, Camp de Mar, Playa de Santa Ponsa.
