Getting around

Bisil is a small market town with a number of shops selling basic food stuff such as onions, potatoes, tomatoes, rice and bread. You can pick up a Maasai blanket and beaded jewelry at the roadside stalls, and if you fancy sampling local cuisine there are a number of ‘Nyama Choma’ joints serving delicious roasted goat and beef. Livestock rearing is a major economic activity in Bisil. If you are interested in local culture, it is well worth visiting the livestock market which takes place in town on Fridays and Mondays. An authentic and colourful event that brings together Maasai traders from all over the county to buy and sell cattle, sheep and goats. Amboseli National Park is about 100 km from Bisil and is worth the day trip.
