Drive from the airport on Airport Rd until you reach traffic lights at the first main road. Turn left. This is the Hawaii Belt Rd (which runs around most of the island) or HI-11, or Kanoelehua Ave. Follow it for about 5.9 miles, stay in the centre lanes, until you reach the turnoff for Pahoa to your left. This is the HI-130/Keaau Pahoa Bypass Rd. You will follow this road for about 21 miles. (At Pahoa, the nearest town which this road bypasses, you will reach a set of traffic lights. Go straight ahead. Here the road becomes the Pahoa Kalapana Rd, still the HI-130.) As you get close to the ocean, the road will curve to the right, and you will see a sign that says “End Of Road” straight ahead. Take a left turn off the highway here following the signs to Kaimu Kalapana and then dog-leg to the right. A few hundred metres ahead of you will be the lava fields and the ocean. At the T-intersection, turn left onto Kapoho Kalapana Rd. Take this road for only a third of a mile. Kalapana Beach Haven Rd (note the long street name) is the 4th driveway off the right and the only paved street. There is a red house on the corner, and a long low white house beside it. At the end of the cul-de-sac is Kalapana Beach Haven. You can park on either side of the house including in front of the driveway.
