How to get there
Welcome to the Isle of Lewis, the most northerly inhabited island in the long chain of the Hebrides, scattered of the North West of Scotland. In this increasingly homogenised world a holiday here is like no other. Tall mountains, broad sweeping moorlands, a sense of space and uncluttered privacy, crofts, magnificent beaches, huge skies, the ever restless sea, ancient monuments, towns and villages. All await your discovery.
Go fishing, walking, boating, hiking, surfing, bird watching, sea angling, day tripping, paddling, swimming, exploring, lying on a beach, visit the Callanish Stones, unwind or just relax with a coffee in a hotel or café. All these and more will fill your days. Then there’s the Hebridean people themselves and the distinctive Gaelic culture and way of life still to be found here. Less frenetic and hard edged than you may be used to. Time to reflect for a bit.
For a touch of town life visit Stornoway, where you’ll find most modern amenities including an airport, car ferry port, harbour, shops, restaurants and cafes, swimming pool and leisure centre and more.
Getting around
The property is on the circular main road around Lewis. Having a car is recommended for reaching the out of way beaches and walks the area is renowned for. The Hatchery is ideally situated for cycling and reaching many points of interest. The loch in front of the lodge is ideal for fishing and there their is a boat which you are free to use (at your own risk).
